COVID-19 has had a significant impact on our coffee industry with over 50% of coffee outlets in Australia closing and those that remained open were operating at far lower levels of trade. However, one company has especially thrived, Black Bag Coffee Roasters who are the commercial division of the Nomad Coffee Group, a business that normally supplies cafes, restaurants and franchise networks, across Australia.
This reduced level of turnover would normally have resulted in Black Bag Coffee Roasters laying off many staff, ultimately placing the business in a very difficult position to get through COVID-19.
Yet they have been extremely fortunate to be a trusted partner of Aldi Australia and over the last 6 weeks have certainly seen a significant uplift in sales through the Aldi network of stores, with sales nearly doubling over this period.
Lance Brown, General Manager of Black Bag Coffee Roasters explains how the “in store” demand for great coffee at home has enabled Black Bag Roasters to keep all of their production staff in full time work and has had a significant impact on helping them get through this difficult period.
“Throughout Covid we initially saw the Aldi coffee demand spike by just over 50% as consumers demanded great coffee at home.”
Black Bag Coffee Roasters are delighted that thousands more people have had the chance to try the multiple award-winning Aldi Lazzio coffee. Their procurement and production teams have worked especially hard to ensure that they could continue to keep up the supply, having trust that all the new Aldi coffee customers have enjoyed the product and will remain loyal into the future.
Black Bag Coffee Roasters Lazzio blend has been jumping off the shelf as Aldi coffee customers purchase the award winning blend, due to its strong presence in store. As a multiple award winning coffee, featuring the Golden Bean award medal sticker on their packaging, it is a great example of how a Golden Bean winning coffee can help market your brand so you can stand apart from other coffee brands.
