As Cafés around the world get closed down or have been forced into limited business models that can only allow for takeaway, new innovations in new business concepts are evolving.
Coffee roasters are having reduced coffee sales of up to 30%, thus many businesses have been looking at other ways to supplement their incomes.
We have seen many coffee Roasters looking at the home coffee market as a way to boost sales revenue. One trend we are seeing globally is our star baristas doing online coffee brewing in their homes. It’s been quite fun to gain insight to the home systems that our coffee heroes have in their kitchens. I have actually enjoyed watching the techniques and home skills of these influencers as they play with all different types of Brew methods, from Pour over, Aeropress, French Press and of course home espresso. Yes you can teach an old dog new tricks and I also have been inspired to climb up to the back corner of the pantry to find my Bodium.
Brewing great coffee at home is quiet inexpensive and I am predicting with the forced lockdowns around the world we will see some pretty clever consumers evolve in home coffee. This is clever marketing from an industry that has recently been challenged, being one of the first areas of hospitality to be shut down because of social distancing laws.
