Café Culture International has launched the first ever plant based milk and food summit scheduled for Monday 26th of September in Melbourne. The event is being held at the prestigious Grand Hyatt in Collins Street and is attracting most of the leaders in the plant based industry who will be attending.
The summit is being held the day before Melbourne’s International Coffee Expo and the World Barista Championships. Café Culture has launched many leading brands into the international café scene in the last ten years and can now see the need for this industry to be united as a smart global leader, so this conference will be an important way to bring together a group of industry icons with this as our primary goal.
The Australian consumer has embraced a lifestyle choice of moving towards a plant based diet as part of their daily meal consumption. The Australian café culture is seeing 30% of all beverages served using plant based alternatives rather than dairy.
The summit will explore this fast growing consumer trend by inviting leading industry leaders in Science, Nutrition, Marketing, Law and trend frontrunners to connect the dots on future innovation and directions. The industry is predicted to be worth 60 billion dollars in the next ten years and many food manufactories are looking at how they can participate and be part of the movement.
I see Australia playing a key role in innovation, technology and market alignment as world leaders in the plant based food arena. The take-up of a plant based lifestyle has dove-tailed extremely well with our clean and green approach to living in Australia and the way the younger generation are accepting this new market at incredible speed is only a benefit to the growth of this industry and the forward-thinkers.
The Plant-Based Summit has attracted speakers such as Professor Vijay Jayasena from Western Sydney University, who will discuss critical movement in science and technology and outline what the future manufacturing processes will look like. Other industry speakers like Jurgen Kennedy from Singapore based AAK will be covering Precision Fermentation and the latest technical updates in this science.
We are lucky to have Tom Dusseldorp from All G Foods take us through the challenges of bringing a new range of plant based foods together with the Love Buds range.
Natalie Latimore from MilkLab will share her marketing background, discussing the connection between consumer choice aligning with industry expectations in creating popular brands.
Ben Ryan from Hillhouse Legal will also look at future legal hurdles the plant based industry could face with competitions, rights and regulations.
The event has appealed to well-known companies such as Sanitarium, Noumi, Minor Figures, Vitasoy, Chobani, Love Buds, who have already registered to attend or participate, and will have representation at the conference.
