Painted Blue Coffee Roasters, based on the NSW Mid-North Coast, in the village of Grassy Head, are not only recognised for their award-winning coffee beans, they have just bagged an accolade as an excellent local business, receiving Highly Commended for Excellence in Trades and Industry at the Macleay Valley Business Awards.
Charelle & Dan accepted their award “full of beans”, grateful for and re-enforcing the importance of community and local support.
“Our small business success is dependent on our local support, thank you to all of our amazing clients, stockists, suppliers, caffeine friends and followers.”
This boutique roasting company is owned and operated by a husband and wife team, it is a huge achievement and great news for local coffee connoisseurs.
“We pride ourselves on being a unique business in the Macleay, providing a high-quality product that is accessible to a wide range of locals, regardless of demographic. We believe in providing variety and competitive pricing for both individual and wholesale customers. Our business model was founded on the premise that we support other local businesses, not compete with them. We are pleased to supply beans and support numerous small businesses in the local community, one of which was awarded the Mid North Coast’s Best Café competition earlier this year.”
Inspired by the glorious blue skies and sparkling clear waters of Grassy Head, the purpose of Painted Blue is to roast with precision, providing customers amazing coffee anytime you ask for it.

Painted Blue Coffee is roasted in small batches to retain freshness and variety. They are proud to offer AWARD WINNING specialty roasted coffee for all to enjoy at home or on the go. “Painted Blue began as we appreciated the value and necessity of having great coffee available anytime. We believe in making an excellent product locally and accessible to everyone. Our aim is to provide customers with a specialty coffee option that they can brew and enjoy daily in their home and/or office.”
The Mid-North Coast is lush and abundant, the region grows amazing local produce; seasonally there is always something on offer. Avocados, mangoes, macadamias, bananas, stone fruits, leafy greens… the list goes on. Between dairy farmers to the north, cattle farmers to the south and west, with the freshest catch of the day caught metres away, it was identified that an essential product to be was missing from and for the local community; locally available coffee beans!

With nationwide customer demand for Australian coffee on the rise, a business goal for the team moving forward is to further work with local farmers and landholders to gain and establish an ongoing interest for locally grown coffee. “As a roasting company with insights, experience and exposure to industry practices we plan to be a catalyst to support a local product to market, not only to support the growing domestic demand but elevate Mid-North Coast products nationwide”. Whilst a longer-term goal, an immediate target is to process and trial what is currently grown locally, albeit, ad hoc. We expect to introduce a local coffee product to our product line to support this goal and customer growth.
