Following up on their 2020 Gold Medal win in Australia’s leading specialty coffee competition, The Golden Bean Conference & Competition, Aldi’s award winning Lazzio took the honours in Canstar’s coffee bean ratings, affirming the finest effort by Aldi to deliver on high quality products at great value prices.
Lance Brown, General Manager of Black Bag Coffee Roasters was ecstatic with the recent results, contacting The Golden Bean team with the news, cementing the integrity of The Golden Bean Competition format.
“Congrats to ALDI Stores Australia who have not only taken out the 2020 Overall Large Chain category at The Golden Bean Australia awards but have now also just won 5 out of 6 categories at the 2021 National Canstar Retail coffee awards. This is a very proud moment for the entire Black Bag Roasters team who produce the ALDI Lazzio brand in Australia, including our green bean buyers, roasters, quality control, packers, customer service and sales team. A huge thanks must also go out to the coffee buying team at Aldi Australia, who drive, support and challenge us on a daily basis to achieve coffee excellence in everything we do at Black Bag Coffee Roasters”. Sean Edwards, General Manager of Golden Bean was excited for Lance, Aldi and the Black Bag Coffee Roasters team, and the affirmation of The Golden Bean Competition format’s success in searching for Australia’s best coffee, attributing this success to The Golden Bean judging process.
The recent 2021 Canstar Blue review published an article which showed how Aussies have rated ALDI’s Lazzio best for coffee beans and ground coffee. It received five-star reviews for taste, texture, packaging, value for money and overall satisfaction.
“Great coffee begins with great coffee beans. There’s almost nothing better than the aroma of freshly ground coffee brewing in the morning, and whether you’re after a rich, dark roasted coffee with an intense flavour, or something lighter with zesty notes, there’s plenty of brew to go around. But the wrong choice of coffee beans can easily leave you with a sour taste, so if you want the scoop on which brand hits the spot, you’ve come to the right place.
“This year, we’ve surveyed more than 940 Aussie consumers for their feedback on the brands of coffee beans they’ve purchased to grind and brew at home, within the last three months. Respondents rated brands on taste, aroma, texture, packaging, variety, value for money and overall satisfaction. Those that met the minimum required survey sample size of 30 responses are featured in our results above.
“ALDI’s Lazzio range steamed ahead in this year’s ratings after it received the only five-star review for overall satisfaction and achieved top marks across most of the board.” Source
