Important update: This only affects USA-based Lyons Magnus manufactured products and does not affect Australian Oatly products.
Numerous products from Oatly and many other brands have been recalled. Lyons Magnus today announced that the company is voluntarily recalling nutritional and beverage products due to the potential for microbial contamination, including from the organism Cronobacter sakazakii.
From the company announcement:
“While infection related to Cronobacter sakazakii is rare, the common symptoms of illness could include fever, vomiting and urinary tract infection. However, vulnerable and immunocompromised populations may be more susceptible to infection.”
It has been stressed that the recalled products are not to be consumed.
The recall affects the cafe industry as their Barista-Edition Oat milk is included in the recalled list, a popular product in USA cafes, along with USA based coffee roasters Intelligentsia and Stumptown who range their versions of iced lattes with milk from Lyons.
